Explore a desolate wilderness in Wasteland 2: Director's Cut

Wasteland 2: Director's Cut is a post-apocalyptic role-playing game in which you command a team of seven elite Desert Rangers searching for the secret behind the death of one of your own. The Director's Cut adds new voice-overs, redesigned encounters, new abilities and more to the original 2014 game.

A classic reimagined

1998's Wasteland was praised by critics and fans, and Wasteland 2 takes the premise of the original and expands it. If you like classic party-based RPGs, you'll find plenty to occupy you in Wasteland 2. It features extensive character creation options and a complex, branching story that provides plenty of replay value. The turn-based, isometric tactical combat is challenging and satisfying, although it can sometimes seem a little old-fashioned in its visual presentation.

An old-school RPG experience

Wasteland 2: Director's Cut does feel a little like a holdover from an earlier era of games, but if you like depth, complexity and challenge, that's a plus. The quest objectives can sometimes feel a little unclear, and the graphics, though appealing, aren't as polished as some larger-budget games, but the overall effect is compelling.

PROS

  • Excellent range of character creation options
  • Deep story with plenty of depth and player choice

CONS

  • Graphics
  • while good
  • are a little outdated
  • Quest objectives are sometimes hard to determine
